Song of Solomon 4:7

You think you are insignificant. He thinks you are good. You believe you are flawed. He believes you are beautiful. You tell yourself you’re unlovable. He tells you that you are His beloved. 

We, as women, are the very crown of creation. The last thing God chose to craft. He was not satisfied until he made us - His most intricate piece of art; the final astonishing work of His hands. 

Society likes to tell young women that they must do certain things to become good. But, God tells us that we are already good; He created us that way. We were made in His image and likeness. We are His perfection, no matter what we have done or what mistakes we will make. 

When we as women realize what we are created for, we begin to value the person we were designed to be. We no longer are the girl who always screws up, but instead the girl who keeps striving. When we understand God created us good, we start to believe that we really are. It opens up the door for us to begin to love who we are on the inside, even when we don’t appreciate what’s on the outside.

Most women stand in the mirror dissecting their appearance. They wish they could have been made with a smaller waist or straighter hair. They pick apart the very details He used to make them unique. What most of us don’t understand is that our beauty should not be judged by our exterior.  A lot of times we think that we need to use our beauty in order to attract attention, rather than having the idea that we should guard our beauty to give to a deserving man. God is not telling us to wear skirts to the floor and turtlenecks, but He is saying that we should dress in such a way that doesn't lessen the person that we are. We deserve a better man than one who will take a quick glance at our cleavage, because we are more than our body parts.

God wants us to be seen as more than just a lustful object, but we have to be willing to present ourselves in that way. Beauty comes with the confidence in knowing who you belong to. Mother Theresa, a tiny little woman with wrinkles all over her face, is the epitome of beautiful. She knew who she was and she knew whose she was. When a young women recognizes that her beauty lies within the heart that God designed and not in how flat her stomach is, she can be certain that she is beautiful, and then that beauty is able to radiate from the inside out. 

As women, we seek love. It’s a natural desire placed within us. Often, however, teenagers search for love in all of the wrong places. In the movie Titanic, the scene where Jack sacrifices himself for Rose causes teenagers weep. They want a man who will love them so much that he would be willing to die for them. What many young women don’t realize is that they already have that man. Over 2000 years ago, a man laid down His life because of His unconditional love for them. God places the longing for love inside our hearts so that we will turn to Him for it to be fulfilled. We will never find satisfaction through anything else. We are living the greatest love story of all time and most of us just forget about it. When we are able to recognize that we are God’s beloved every single day for the rest of our lives is when we are able to finally fill that hole.

You are the daughter of the King of the universe. You are good, you are beautiful, and you are beloved. You don’t have to try to become these three things. You already were, you are right now, and you always will be. Remember who you belong to so that you can begin to fall in love with the person you are and the person you are becoming. 

I challenge you to keep your face towards our Lord, and your regrets, your bad judgments, your mistakes will fall behind you.
